The Komodo monitor lizard is a unique and striking reptile that mainly inhabits Komodo Island in and around Indonesia. This giant lizard has attracted attention not only for its majestic form, but also for its important role in the ecosystem and its amazing biological adaptability.

Komodo dragons can grow up to 3 meters long and weigh more than 100 kilograms, making them one of the largest lizards in the world. They have strong limbs and sharp claws, which are suitable for walking in rough terrain. At the same time, the Komodo dragon's skin is covered with thick scales that protect the body and help resist the influence of the external environment.

The ecology of this monitor lizard is amazing. Komodo dragons are carnivores that mainly prey on deer and other small animals. Its hunting method is very unique, usually using a strategy of waiting for prey to approach. After a successful hunt, the Komodo dragon uses its powerful bite force to tear apart its prey and feed on it. More interestingly, their saliva contains a variety of bacteria, which makes injured prey often die of infection after escaping, providing a rich "supplement meal" for Komodo dragons.

Komodo dragons are also known for their excellent sense of smell, being able to find food from miles away by sensing odors in the air. This unique sense of smell complements its survival strategy, giving it an important place in a highly competitive natural environment.

In terms of conservation, due to habitat degradation and the impact of human activities, the Komodo dragon population has gradually decreased, becoming an endangered species. Protecting these monitor lizards not only helps maintain the ecological balance, but also helps preserve the genetic diversity of this unique species. As a result, many conservation organizations and regional governments are working to protect and restore Komodo's well-known island ecosystem.
