In the deep ocean, whales are known as the "giants of the sea", they attract people's attention with their huge size and unique ecological habits. Cetaceans are divided into two main groups: toothed whales and filter-feeding whales. Toothed whales, such as sperm whales and dolphins, feed on fish and squid, while filter-feeding whales, such as blue whales and humpback whales, feed on plankton, displaying different feeding strategies.
Whales are amazing for their social behavior and high intelligence. Sperm whales, for example, exhibit cooperative hunting behavior and complex communication in groups, demonstrating superior intelligence. Scientific research has shown that whales communicate over long distances underwater through sound waves, which can penetrate several kilometers of water, forming their unique "language." This social network not only helps the whales maintain contact, but also enables effective hunting cooperation around common prey.
However, whales face many serious challenges to their survival. Historical overfishing, modern Marine pollution, climate change and other factors threaten the habitat of these creatures. Many cetaceans are now listed as endangered species and their numbers have declined dramatically. Although the International Whaling Commission (IWC) has undertaken work to protect these giant Marine creatures, the conservation situation remains complicated by the insistence of individual countries on commercial whaling.
In order to protect these beautiful creatures, environmental organizations and scientists around the world are making continuous efforts. They are actively protecting whales and their habitats by establishing Marine protected areas, limiting fishing and reducing Marine pollution. In addition, the application of technology, such as satellite tracking and biomonitoring, is helping us better understand whale behavior and habitat changes, which provides a scientific basis for providing targeted conservation programs.
