Mindfulness counteracts these maladaptive coping mechanisms by encouraging individuals to approach challenging experiences with curiosity and openness. By acknowledging and accepting their emotions, rather than suppressing or denying them, individuals can develop a greater sense of control and agency.

Moreover, mindfulness fosters self-compassion and self-awareness, allowing individuals to recognize their limitations and vulnerabilities.
