The Balloon Model represents ideas and solutions as balloons that can rise or fall based on various factors—air, weight, and pressure. Each balloon symbolizes a different project or initiative within an organization. When a team applies the Balloon Model, they can visualize their ideas, assess the forces affecting them, and determine how to make these "balloons" soar.
This stage involves brainstorming ideas and generating excitement around potential projects. Teams engage in creative thinking, encouraging everyone to contribute thoughts without limitations. This is where the magic begins—each idea is "inflated," representing potential and vision.
Just like balloons are affected by the weight of objects tethered to them, ideas can be weighed down by factors such as limited resources, time constraints, or negative feedback. Identifying these weight factors is crucial as it helps teams understand challenges that could hinder their projects' progress.
